FOR KINGS AND PRIME MINISTERS

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.      1 Timothy 2:1-2

STRATEGIC PRAYER NOW FOR OUR PRIME MINISTER AT THE G8 SUMMIT

We may have been distracted by SARS and rumours of wars but for the last 12 months since the Group of Eight (G8) met at Kananaskis, there have been the most careful preparations for this summit of the most powerful world leaders. It is due to take place, now, from June 1-3rd in Evian-les-Bains, France on the shores of Lake Geneva. The Heads of State of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, USA, Russian Federation and the EU meet to discuss world issues. Several African leaders will attend some sessions. This week the G8 will major on four major themes:

*    AFRICA                    The plan for development and access to water for all.
*    RESPONSIBILITY   All need to display this in the financial, social, environmental and ethical spheres.
*    SECURITY               To strengthen the fight against terrorism and the spread of weapons of mass destruction
*    DEMOCRACY         How to spread democracy throughout the world.

These and other topics are vital to world politics, economics and development. Let us lift up our very own Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Jean Chretien. Let's pray ............

FATHER, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORD THAT STATES THAT YOUR SON, JESUS CHRIST, IS THE RULER OF THE KINGS OF THE EARTH, SO BY FAITH, IN PRAYER, WE PLACE THOSE MIGHTY LEADERS AND THEIR ADVISORS UNDER THE SOVEREIGNTY AND POWER OF THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS! WE ESPECIALLY LIFT UP TO YOU OUR PRIME MINISTER, JEAN CHRETIEN, AND PRAY THAT YOU WILL BE WITH HIM IN ALL WISDOM AND GOOD HEALTH. WE PRAY FOR HIS RELATIONSHIPS THAT HE WOULD BE A BRIDGE BETWEEN OTHER LEADERS WHO ARE POLARISED. OUT OF HIS COMPASSION FOR AFRICA HELP HIM TO ENSURE THAT THE AFRICAN NATIONS ARE BENEFITED BY THE G8. PLEASE HELP THEM TO ACT RIGHTEOUSLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE CONGO REPUBLIC. LET YOUR RULERSHIP OVERSHADOW HIM AND GUIDE THEM ALL IN THE FORMATION OF OPINION AND DECISIONS. WE ASK THAT YOUR KINGDOM PURPOSES WOULD BE FULFILLED THROUGH ALL THE CHANGES THAT ARE BEING CONSIDERED.
